Support Family Farms, Watch Farm Aid Live
The 2008 Farm Aid Concert is coming up just around the corner (Sept 20), and if you don’t have tickets you can still enjoy the wonderful music. Last year’s event on Randall’s Island in New York City was a fun and informative event where in addition to the excellent music, there were many companies and groups presenting their environmentally friendly goods.
About Farm Aid
Farm Aid’s mission is to build a vibrant family farm-centered system of agriculture in America. Farm Aid artists and board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews host an annual concert to raise funds to support Farm Aid’s work with family farmers and to inspire people to choose family-farmed food. Since 1985, Farm Aid has raised more than $30 million to support programs that help farmers thrive, expand the reach of the Good Food Movement, take action to change the dominant system of industrial agriculture and promote food from family farms.
Unfortunately this year, the Farm Aid Concert in Mansfield, MA sold out a little quiker than anticipated, so I will be unable to attend. No worries for me and everyone else who wishes they could attend.
Luckily, DIRECTV will be broadcasting the concert live, without commercials, starting at 4pm on its channel The 101 Network. On the 101 you’ll be able to see the concert in high definition with surround sound! You’ll miss out on the delicious HOMEGROWN food we’re bringing to the concert, but you’ll get all the sights and sounds brought right to your living room.
So if you’ve never been to a Farm Aid Concert, now is your chance to see what you’ve been missing. If you are a DirecTV subscriber, be sure to tune in Saturday September 20 to channel 101 at 4PM. If you don’t have DirecTV you can also watch a live webcast at FarmAid.org.
